2026 Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteering with High Desert Horticultural Center is a great way to get outside, learn more about native plants, and meet fellow gardening enthusiasts. We have a variety of volunteer opportunities available for 2026 and will likely be adding more as we get closer to summer! Make sure you are subscribed to our newsletter and are following us on social media to stay up to date on volunteer opportunities.

Volunteer at WinterCreek Nursery

Group of twelve people standing outside on grass, with greenhouses and trees in the background on a sunny day.

From March until September, volunteers help the nursery crew with weeding, repotting, watering and more. Volunteers commit 1-3 hours one day a week on either Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.

Represent HDHC at a Special Event

Two smiling people, a man and a woman, standing behind a table at the High Desert Horticultural Center booth, wearing matching bright green t-shirts with the center's logo. Behind them are informational posters about biodiversity, pollinator habitats, and native plant benefits, with potted plants and flyers on the table.

Get your fellow community members excited about native plants at one of our community events. Volunteers help set up and take down a booth or table and spend the day talking with others about what we do! 2026 events include Earth Day, World Migratory Bird Day, City of Bend Water Wise Event, and our 2026 Garden Tour.

Help Out During a Class

Outdoor gathering under a canopy with people sitting on chairs, listening to a speaker, in a grassy area with trees.

Most Saturdays from March until October we hold community classes at WinterCreek Nursery. Volunteers help set up chairs and materials for the class and then work in the nursery helping customers find plants and answering their questions. These volunteers have ideally volunteered at the nursery previously and have some knowledge of native plants.
