With your help, together, we can develop urban landscapes as ecological systems to provide an inherent connection to nature and help buffer the loss of natural areas experienced through development, resource extraction, or other activities. Currently, over 95% of the United States is impacted by humans, and over 54% of that area is urban. The other 41% is in agricultural production to support urban populations in our country and around the world.
Natural spaces no longer exist at scales that can support us – leaving us with a profound responsibility to ourselves and future generations to develop ways that can provide the goods and services we depend on. One of the main challenges associated with designing and planning landscapes for resource conservation, pollinator habitat and efficiency is the availability of plant material.
With your partnership HDHC’s propagation facility will double the availability of native plants to consumers in central and eastern Oregon and support a rapidly growing native plant market for homeowners, landscapers, plant brokers and land managers.
